The Headline or the statement is really striking and most of us would be wondering as how this is possible without knowing the models and allied technicalities.

Let me Explain:

We the Search Marketers have to analyse the site performance, marketing strategies, optimisation technique, social media process to engage visitors, develop unique content ideas for link baiting and so on. At the top of all we have to analyse the particular site, the business as a whole to get niche traffic and to increase the conversion rate.

We are actually doing all those things on a regular basis even including the design process (I mean to guide the designer and content writer and programmer) of the website, finally fixing the landing page and usability pattern. So if search marketers are assigned with the Business Analysis Job and to make a roadmap, am sure they can do it. Well few technical knowledge is required like excel sheet operation, advance excel, spss, sas and other related trainings.

Recently I have seen data analysis and mining application (excel) for SEO to segregate the competition and keyword funnels. So that actually instigate me to concentrate more on Back end analysis. Students from the fields like marketing, statistics, mathematics, operation research would get success in the ever dynamic arena. Eventually they can become a good business analyst.

I believe that after having a considerable no of years of experience, it all needs to understand the model, technicalities are to be taken into account eventually.

Well the idea is to track the past trends on the evolution of contents or the nature of the web contents and then predict the forms of web contents and thus making your digital marketing strategies accordingly.

We all know the different variations and forms of search engine algos to pull the web pages. The era began with web 1.0 to web 2.0 and now its time to semantic web that is web 3.0. The maximum utiliisation of artificial intelligence.

If we can rank the types of web contents according to their respective speed to reach to the audience what we get:

1. Writing on web pages
2. Blog Writing
3. Discussion Forums
4. Video
5. PPT/Slides
6. Images
7. Social Media
8. Micro Blogging … and so on (plz rectify me if am wrong)

The search rankings also evolved since then. User generated contents have got the top most priority during 2005-2006 and now its the time to have social media contents and the reaching capability to the audience. This theme led to user engagement and associated social signal. Highly signalling and reviewed site get the priority to the search engines while SEO comes in question.

If we can predict the trend via some data analysis or trend analysis, we could be able to move forward as to what will be the search algos next target to put the priority. Like Mobile SEO, Television Contents, latest domestic gadgets with social apps (like samsung refrigerator) etc.

SEO and Social Signals – The Influencing Pattern

In these days Search Engine Optimisation is not restricted to the On page and Off page factors only. Instead, many social influences, likes and dislikes, downloads, bookmarks are really making the ranking job tough for SEOs as a whole. Social media discussions and participations are really important factors to include depending on which the search engines would put values to those brands and pull them up in the SERPs.

In the above diagram I have tried to depict the entire scenario in a brief. The picture also shows why we need the social media involvement and the actual purposes.

Review Sites: These sort of sites are working a word of mouth and written reviews help the users to choose the choice-able product and services. Negative reviews take toll to the name of the brands and thus the ranking factors. We had an experience on this. So customer service is gonna really matter these days and Twitter comes handy for this. (So relationship pattern)

User Engagements: Once we try to engage the users or the visitors around the brand, they will suggest us what to do next. This is somewhat wisdom of crowd and they will in fact drive the sales growth and revenues. The likes would also send a signal to the search engine that how the brand is performing.

Google+: This is really effective for the business. More the plus, more faster will be the rankings via shares and engagements. This is actually Googles own product and so quite obvious that google will put importance to its own product first.

Downloads and Views: This is another component via which the search engines got yo know the visitors preference. The bottomline line is that, what visitors prefer, Google will prefer the same. The value of the contents are really crucial. More research, new stories, data driven content and associated users views, likes and downloads are the key determinants for the overall SEO rankings.

It goes without saying that the importance of analytics is of course to be taken into account to fix the bounce rate, usability structure, exit pattern, and lot more.

Social Media can even Back Fire the Non-Professionals

HOW?

If somebody commits a nuisance intentionally, say before leaving a job, the organization authority can spread the bad reputation or do an anti-propaganda campaign against the employee. This must go against the employee as far as the reputation is concerned. A social media reputation would in turn be reflected in even losing a job.

HR managers are more and more proactive in checking the activities of a potential employee through the social Medias. His/her behavior is clear through the social media involvement.

The nuisances could be in forms of:

  • Transfer of confidential information of parent company to its competitors
  • Deletion of database
  • Data theft
  • Misbehavior with the colleagues and/or to the female employees
  • Polluting the company culture thus producing negative productivity
  • Negative Influence
  • Snatching the existing employees to the newly joined company
  • Monetary scam
  • Depletion of company assets (tangible and intangible)
  • Spreading wrong word of mouth

Will Google show Twitter search results?

The pace with which Twitter is approaching to grasp all the focus of web marketers, it has become the center point of discussion over the web-sphere. Optimisation and thus marketing techniques have started to shift in recent past from one dimension to another. Slowly and silently some breakthrough models of newer search engines have emerged knowing the hard-core fact that, it is nearly impossible to beat the search giant Google with respect to data centric, horizontally and vertically spread business model. Twitter is the burning example as to how they have converted a small concept into a real time search engine.

Now the question is how Google will react?
Showing search results from database (which is a bit older one) versus search results from real time discussion/updates, which is again to some extent dependent on the database driven search results. No matter what is happening behind the screen, the mass will prefer the faster and latest one. Google is lagging behind. As Google search results are a mixture of websites, news, videos, maps and so on, Google strategy must include the updates of the social media sites specially Twitter and Facebook. That will help a lot to the search marketers and of course to the Google itself, as optimizers will get motivated with the approach.

Link building – A corporate strategy approach

A different kind of link building strategy what I am thinking off. Please bear with me.

The model: You are optimizing your prime business website through which you will get the clients.

Beside all other options, you can think off this strategy.

1. Build a page on corporate social responsibility.

2. Towards Tax deduction, you can enjoy the benefit through giving a portion of your profit to a non-profit organisation.

3. Construct the page in that way. Give a link to that organization.

4. Build rapport with the organisation so that they must speak about your company as what you have done for them. May be a link and reputation at the same time.

5. You are getting values from engines.

6. Try to participate in fund raising web communities individually allowing links on the member page.

7. Time to time update the social responsibility page as what you are doing with the voluntary organizations. Spread this with social media.

Local Vs Global communication for Social Media

Which one is the best way to communicate? Is it Local/own/mother language or is it the globally accepted language like English that may influence better and in more effective way to communicate with the global people.

If the meaning for social media is to create some influence on the network, then it must be global language for an effective communication. Otherwise, it may hamper the viral effect after a certain point of time.

If updates are available in say French, then to us, the people who are used to English, it is difficult to grasp the exact wave. Participation stops.

Moreover, if local language say Bengali is expressed in written English, then also the process create a lot of difficulties for the end users across the friends network.

Now come to the marketing or Optimization. What happens?
Expressions with native languages would entail a local buzz. Hence a Niche Product. The way to globalize the fact would be a simple translation in English of the chats.
