Page load factor and Visitor Bounce rate

How long a visitor can wait to check your webpage, technically speaking the Landing Page? Its around 3-5 seconds to 8-10 seconds. I would prefer 3 to 5 seconds as the 3-second usability test is related to the page load factor.

From the few days we were wondering as to how the visitors are getting bounced from the respective landing pages of http://www.humtumlove.com/ and http://www.itcslive.com/. Even some of them stayed there for 0 second. We sat together, cleared the cache and the browsing history and checked again the page load. It was enormous, taking as long as 20 seconds to open even the home page. We must not talk about the rest of the pages, as they are full of images, videos and music.

Now if SEO is all about to convert the traffic, page load factor is indeed crucial. We had that factor in mind and accordingly we prepared the pages. But somewhere we ignore the basic rule. It’s a great experience for all of us.

Management Development Training @ SPJIMR

Prof Sarmish Dalal

The 3 days Management Development Training programme at SPJIMR for the NGOs across the country, came to an end after a joyful photo session. Some of us including me were so hurry to catch the train, that we even forgot to bid goodbye to all the participants and the coordinators and the professors. Sorry for that really. Otherwise the event was a mega success in terms of training, interaction of the participants, friendly atmosphere, professional management of all the stuffs by the coordinators and associates. Special thanks must be given to Prof, Rukaiya Joshi, Prof. Nirija Matto, Asmita and her colleagues and to all the staffs of the SP Jain Institute, Mumbai.

I have always dreamt to participate in such kind of programme and this has come true at last. Personally I was overwhelmed by the presentation of Mr. Sarmish Dalal on People management and performance. The thought procedure what I had in mind from the last couple of years related to business or profession, he has just pulled out the materials from my inner soul. I am still charged up and hope I will be able to implement some techniques into the organization wherever I work. All the professors and resource persons were outstanding and they have tried the level best within time limitation in a much more simplified methods to make us understand the nitty gritty of the respective functionalities. Personally I missed the lecture of Mr. Sumit Roy on branding issue as I have been engaged in online marketing and fund raising procedure. I was in Class B. I wish I could attend any seminar of him once opportunity arises.

I must mention the names like Prof. Parimal Marchant, Prof. Lata Dhir, Mr. Anil Sathe for their valuable contributions.

This will be a good and perhaps a sustainable platform rather a forum to interact the NGO functionaries and corporates and funding agencies to share their views and of course fund raising activities. I would be happy if SPJIMR would launch a website on this particular perspective so that the participant NGOs could interact over a platform. A participatory leadership.

Will Google show Twitter search results?

The pace with which Twitter is approaching to grasp all the focus of web marketers, it has become the center point of discussion over the web-sphere. Optimisation and thus marketing techniques have started to shift in recent past from one dimension to another. Slowly and silently some breakthrough models of newer search engines have emerged knowing the hard-core fact that, it is nearly impossible to beat the search giant Google with respect to data centric, horizontally and vertically spread business model. Twitter is the burning example as to how they have converted a small concept into a real time search engine.

Now the question is how Google will react?
Showing search results from database (which is a bit older one) versus search results from real time discussion/updates, which is again to some extent dependent on the database driven search results. No matter what is happening behind the screen, the mass will prefer the faster and latest one. Google is lagging behind. As Google search results are a mixture of websites, news, videos, maps and so on, Google strategy must include the updates of the social media sites specially Twitter and Facebook. That will help a lot to the search marketers and of course to the Google itself, as optimizers will get motivated with the approach.

One more issue: Discussions are going on to restrict google from crawling the blogs and must be charged, as we are the publishers. http://twitter.com/webreps
Stop being scared of Google….as bloggers we are publishers…so we cannot allow the domination of search engines over our ideas & value.. Vikas Kedia on Bloggers Meet Kolkata.

Kolkata Bloggers Meet – Few points to note

Finally we are at some stage to gather over a common platform to spread the message of technology, to discuss and brainstorm the digital media, to share ideas over the web business models, and to hold the baton so as to make it a strong platform on the global Internet village. It is perhaps a significant step to leave a footmark for the Indian web futurists.

I, as a technology and Internet lover, dreamt off to be there in SES meetings and allied over the globe. This bloggers meet could be an important threshold to create demand of more and more meets like this and hope Universities and organizations show some kind interest towards Research on the Internet technologies.

Some points I would like to share supposing that bloggers will join from all walks of life.

  1. Discussions are expected to be simpler so that a layman blogger could understand.
  2. All the discussions won’t mean for the search marketers only; rather to spread the mania we all need to clarify the points in a simpler way so that a novice blogger could raise her voice to the global platform and can interact with the community.
  3. How small enterprises can utilize this small but effective tool independently for her business – the strategies in fact.
  4. Finally what kind of research and trends are going on in India. Can we incorporate the educational institutes and Universities in future meets.

We must hope big. One day it could surpass SES even :)

Link building – A corporate strategy approach

A different kind of link building strategy what I am thinking off. Please bear with me.

The model: You are optimizing your prime business website through which you will get the clients.

Beside all other options, you can think off this strategy.

1. Build a page on corporate social responsibility.

2. Towards Tax deduction, you can enjoy the benefit through giving a portion of your profit to a non-profit organisation.

3. Construct the page in that way. Give a link to that organization.

4. Build rapport with the organisation so that they must speak about your company as what you have done for them. May be a link and reputation at the same time.

5. You are getting values from engines.

6. Try to participate in fund raising web communities individually allowing links on the member page.

7. Time to time update the social responsibility page as what you are doing with the voluntary organizations. Spread this with social media.

My approach towards twitter optimization

twitter

twitter

1. Start updating what you are doing (assignments, works, travel and so on) at the initial stage.

2. Follow people not of your interest. A trick is here. Suppose you are likely to optimize a financial (Mortgage) website. Then what will be the targeted audience?  Almost everyone excepting the mortgage site owners, as they are in the same process. So follow people indirectly related to the subject Mortgage. Like, Home owners, insurance agent, travel people, mortgage brokers, institutions and so on.

3. Develop viral marketing. How? Through producing some unique articles depending on the key phrases out of the web logs, as demand could be analysis through the log.

4. Share stories from Dig, News sites, Yahoo and of course local news results targeting local search.

5. Keep a catchy small bio with your website.

6. Interact with the community to become visible at the other part.

7. Use # for the possible search result.

8. Keep on following the possible renowned persons.

Enough.

New assignment, new challenge

challenge must be won

challenge must be won

In these days I am taking care of a specific website for the overall development, optimization and of course social media marketing. It’s ITCSlive.com which offers website designs and development services to the various business needs. One of my friends has taken the initiative to establish this company taking along with some true pals. It’s a very small organisation working PHP, Dot net and also on open source technologies. Besides client services they are having few in-house web models which are yet to rock the internet floor.

Wrapping Up the Venture??

Wrapping the business

Wrapping the business

With the advent of Social Networking sites and social media marketing, is it the exact time to say that, so called job sites are likely to wrap up their business? Or, is it the case that the ventures will find newer ways for business development as their web businesses are hedged vertically and horizontally both.

Social media sites like LinkedIn and allied has open up the option for HR personnel to find the exact match of their Human Resource searches without involving in the service paid structure to the job sites. They are indeed can serve the purpose of Happiness Reservoir to the organisation and High Risk for the site owners. In addition, HR managers could check the IT skill factor for the job seekers by default. In a cost cutting scenario the network addiction would benefit the cause.

Hey HRs, don’t stop the media sites from viewing in office J

The primary business model of the job sites typically includes Resume services for the job seekers and the companies both, ad revenues, pay per impression ad, banner ad and so on. So emergence of social media would likely to reduce the clicks as a whole. But as the owners have more than one sister parallel sites like matrimonial, Sports, trading etc, they would able to sustain. Moreover, the matrimony ventures are likely to slow down due to this social Medias.

Site owners need to find some strong model on the existing business so that traffic won’t divert to another space and place. Strategic partnership on location basis could be one of the way outs.

Karmayoga is bolder than Gyanyoga

Karmayoga

Karmayoga

Twitter is probably outpacing Facebook.

The usability structure, the simple promotional and sharing architecture in terms of ‘What you are doing’ is leaving stronger appeal to the social media generation. Though the structure of Facebook is different as the user would have the opportunity in sharing various forms of contents. In twitter, the url sharing process exercising every expression. Content based products and then sharing, to me it stands much easier to communicate with the help of a tiny write up and associated url to draw attention of the targeted audience towards your product or services. Viral buzz and promotion both are possible in a single effort. If we are believed to live in impatience age, then talk less and work more is the mantra. That’s why, url and associated so called killer article sharing is likely to assist you in building the exact network and draw the traffic and of course image brand building.

To be specific, stressing on the term, What you are Doing, Twitter indeed made things more simple. If we understand the Facebook theme as Gyanjog, ‘What is in your mind’, Twitter could be termed as ‘Karmoyog’ (There are four Yogas: Rajyoga, Gyanyog, Bhaktiyog and Karmoyoga; among all the Karmayog is the most effective way in finding success towards your goal). We all know, Karmayog is bolder than Gyanyog .

Local Vs Global communication for Social Media

Which one is the best way to communicate? Is it Local/own/mother language or is it the globally accepted language like English that may influence better and in more effective way to communicate with the global people.

Local language in Global Media

Local language in Global Media

If the meaning for social media is to create some influence on the network, then it must be global language for an effective communication. Otherwise, it may hamper the viral effect after a certain point of time.

If updates are available in say French, then to us, the people who are used to English, it is difficult to grasp the exact wave. Participation stops.

Moreover, if local language say Bengali is expressed in written English, then also the process create a lot of difficulties for the end users across the friends network.

Now come to the marketing or Optimization. What happens?
Expressions with native languages would entail a local buzz. Hence a Niche Product. The way to globalize the fact would be a simple translation in English of the chats.
